Named after notable Augusta philanthropist Emily Tubman, the Tubman Education Center has played an important role in Augusta's history since its founding as the Neely Institute in 1874. Until the 1950s, it served as the only public high school for girls in the Augusta area.
Georgia Civil is currently working in collaboration with Cheatham, Fletcher, Scott Architects to provide infrastructure and site improvements. Such developments assure the Tubman Education Center continues to hold a prominent position in Augusta's history.
